Promotion of women’s and feminist initiatives for ratification of the Istanbul Convention and the counteraction of anti-gender initiatives in the region

The Centre of Women’s Perspectives (Ukraine) together with its project partners from the five other EaP countries will advocate for the speedy ratification of the Istanbul Convention for the protection of women in the Eastern Partnership region.

Project duration: 01 June – 31 October 2020

Project aim: This project aims to develop a joint strategy for addressing religious and radical right extremist anti-gender initiatives that target women’s rights, and for supporting the ratification of the Istanbul Convention in the EaP countries. The strategy will be developed on the basis of learning strategies and activities used for ratification/ implementation of the Istanbul Convention in Georgia, and on examples from other countries that have successfully ratified the Convention.

The strategy will also address minimizing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on violence against women, and domestic violence in EaP countries.
