We are deeply saddened by the premature death of the prominent member of the civil society in Armenia David Tumanyan.

Mikayel Hovhannisyan, EaP CSF National facilitator for Armenia said: «It is with deep sorrow that Armenian National Platform of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum has learnt about the sudden death of our good friend and colleague David Tumanyan. David Tumanyan was the deputy chairman of the Community Finance Officers’ Association and an active member of the Armenian National Platform ever since it was established. Mr. Tumanyan was one of the key experts of the Eastern Partnership Integration Index, an active member of Public Administration Reform subgroup of the Forum. He was known for his deep expertise, honesty and readiness to share his knowledge and experience with his colleagues. Armenian Civil Society has lost a dedicated and professional person who will be missed by all of us. We express our sincere condolences to David’s family. May he rest in peace.»

Antonella Valmorbida, Secretary General of ALDA (the European Association for Local Democracy) and Coordinator of the Subgroup of Local Government and Public Administration Reform commented: «David Tumanyan left us on Sunday, after several months of illness. We lose a very good friend and a extremely competent colleague. David was a pillar of our intense work in the subgroup for Local Government and Public Administration Reform of the Civil Society Forum. He had a strong and endless competence on local government and decentralization issues in Armenia and enthusiastically shared his vision with his colleagues in the whole Eastern Partnership countries and elsewhere in Europe. He had love for his country and  he was open and ready to accept everyone else’s point of view. He was both an academic and practitioner. We will miss him a lot. David and I met 20 years ago, starting our engagement in local democracy when things were at the very beginning. To his family and close friends go all our, and especially mine, deepest condolences.»
